Swim Lessons

The Y introduced the country to group swim lessons over 110 years ago in 1909. Now, as one of the largest community-based organizations in the country, we teach more than a million children, especially those most at-risk of drowning, invaluable water safety and swimming skills each year.

This year with the partnership of Plain Local Schools and The Central Stark County YMCA all first graders in Plain's school district received free swim lessons. See the joy on the faces of every first grader as they splashed into the pool, thanks to the incredible support received.

With each stroke mastered and fear conquered, these lessons became more than just swimming—they became a symbol of community unity and opportunity. To our donors and grant providers, we extend our deepest gratitude for investing in our children's futures and making these valuable lessons accessible to all. And to the parents, guardians, and educators who entrusted us, thank you for your support. Together, we're making waves of change, one swim lesson at a time.
